KEN Banner

It is our pleasure to inform you that the EREF has evolved into the following new structure:

  1. On the one hand the EREF network has evolved into the Knowledge Economy Network (KEN). At the end of 2010, KEN was established and is now registered in Brussels as a non-profit association. This is our response to a larger, global need to enhance and support efforts to build knowledge economy, not only at European, but at truly international level. For further information, please visit the new website of both the Network and annual KEN Forum – which will be held in Maribor, Slovenia!
  2. On the other hand the European Regional Economic Forum has been acquired by the International Student Senate, a platform of elected student leaders. The International Student Senate itself is part of the Global Leadership Observatory. The European Regional Economic Forum will continue as a think tank where student leaders, high level politicians and business executives will meet to discuss the economic future of Europe. Welcome to the European Regional Economic Forum Network!

The EREF Network (European Regional Economic Forum Network)  is an informal group of European regions, which together with the Municipality of Maribor and the Slovenian Government Office for Local Self-Government and Regional Policy, organize in early June the annual European Regional Economic Forum.

Prior to the Forum, 3 - 4 workshops are organized in EREF partner regions/countries, addressing one of the specific topics of the Forum agenda for the year. The preparatory workshops produce the draft-recommendations addressing stakeholders, regional/local, national and EU policy makers in the domains of knowledge economy.

Since 2005, EREF gradually evolved into a European Network, with the Slovenian Business & Research Association serving as its Secretariat. In 2007 the Municipality of Nova Gorica created the EREF Network for South Eastern Europe.

On our homepage you can find a detailed account of previous fora, as well as a schedule of this year’s workshops and Forum.

Also available, a word of EREF Chair on the Network’s general Philosophy and operational Mission.

If you are interested in attending the Forum taking place on the 6th and 7th June 2011, please register and enjoy the website’s content.
